Hi Traders!

I’d like to present my first Expert Advisor for trading the BTCUSD pair.

The EA is based on the RSI (Relative Strength Index) indicator and the Bill Williams Alligator indicator (which is using three smoothed moving averages).

The relative strength index (RSI) is a technical indicator used in the analysis of financial markets. It is intended to chart the current and historical strength or weakness of a stock or market based on the closing prices of a recent trading period. The indicator should not be confused with relative strength. The RSI is classified as a momentum oscillator, measuring the velocity and magnitude of price movements. Momentum is the rate of the rise or fall in price. The relative strength RS is given as the ratio of higher closes to lower closes. Concretely, one computes two averages of absolute values of closing price changes, i.e. two sums involving the sizes of candles in a candle chart. The RSI computes momentum as the ratio of higher closes to overall closes: stocks which have had more or stronger positive changes have a higher RSI than stocks which have had more or stronger negative changes.

The Williams Alligator indicator is a technical analysis tool that uses smoothed moving averages. The indicator uses a smoothed average calculated with a simple moving average (SMA) to start. It uses three moving averages, set at five, eight, and 13 periods. The three moving averages comprise the Jaw, Teeth, and Lips of the Alligator. The indicator applies convergence-divergence relationships to build trading signals, with the Jaw making the slowest turns and the Lips making the fastest turns.

The Expert Advisor is only using this technical indicators to find the best entries for a trade – it is NOT using any risky trading strategies like martingale / grid / …, every trade is protected by SL!

Can also be used for prop trading (not passing), FIFO compatible (as it’s single trade), expected monthly return with DD <5% is about 2% (calculated from the past 11 months performance)

The EA takes about 3-8 trades a week (depends on the indicator signals), there may be some times (weeks, even 1-2 months) with some DD, but overall the performance is stable – remember: trading is a marathon, not a sprint!

Minimum requirements and recommendations

• Broker: Any broker with a low spread
• Minimum initial deposit: from only 100$ (if your broker allows 0.01 lot size) for accounts with leverage 1:100
• Trading strategy: Single Trade, technical
• Use a VPS for the EA to work 24/7 (mandatory) – trades also on weekend

Installation

• Simply open a chart with BTCUSD, timeframe M15, attach the EA and load one of the set files

Backtests done with Tick Data Suite (Dukascopy history), variable spread 50-100 + dealer-style slippage –> showing stable results since first historical records from 2017/05/07

Additional note: even though the combination of the used indicators are not for scalping and should not be broker sensitive, we see different results for different brokers. As i found out, it is just recommended to have a low spread – the lower the spread, the better the trading results.
